Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball legend IImar’i Thomas has capped her remarkable career with a new honor.

Today, she was named the American Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year.

For her career, Thomas is the only player in Bearcats history to score more than 1,800 points and grab more than 800 rebounds. She has now been named First Team All-Conference in each of the last three seasons (2019-2021).

Thomas showed remarkable leadership skills on this Bearcats team in 2020-2021, coming out and putting up exemplary performance after exemplary performance.

Cincinnati was a young, rebuilding team that took most of the year to get its bearings in this strangest of seasons. Except for Thomas. Who did remarkable things on a nightly basis.

This was her fourth consecutive remarkable campaign for Cincinnati and she has been duly honored by the league.

Thomas gets another chance to make miracles happen for the Bearcats this coming weekend, as Cincinnati heads down to Ft. Worth for the AAC Tournament, beginning on Monday March 8th against Memphis.
