The Cincinnati Bearcats baseball team kicks off a four-game set with the Memphis Tigers in just under two hours.

The Bearcats and Tigers play a doubleheader starting at 2 PM today before playing matinees on Saturday and Sunday. The games are down in Memphis. Memphis enters the series with an 11-19 record.

Cincinnati split a four-game weekend set last weekend with the UCF Knights, improving Cincinnati’s league mark to 2-6.

Overall, the Bearcats boast a 13-16 mark and seem to be headed in the right direction.

LAST WEEKEND:

On Sunday afternoon, the Cincinnati Bearcats baseball team made the weekend respectable.

Cincinnati, now 13-16 overall and 2-6 in the league, earned a split in their four-game set with the University of Central Florida Knights. In a Sunday matinee, they knocked off UCF by a 10-6 margin.

On Friday, UCF got past the Bearcats 8-6 while Saturday witnessed a split in the doubleheader. In Game 1 Saturday, southpaw senior Garrett Schoenele pitched a gem, holding the Knights scoreless for 5 innings in a 2-1 nailbiter of a win.

The nightcap on Saturday couldn’t have been more different as UCF shellacked Cincinnati by an ugly, football-esque 20-10 margin.

Sunday’s win, which evened up the weekend series, was a classic comeback. The Bearcats trailed 5-2 before exploding for 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Junior outfielder Paul Komistek led the comeback, belting a home run and driving in three runs on a 3 for 4 day.
