The Cincinnati Bearcats baseball team has a tremendous opportunity this weekend as they take on national power and AAC front runner East Carolina University (ECU). Cincinnati hosts the ECU Pirates for a four game set at the UC Baseball Stadium. Tickets are still available and the games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The series kicks off with a doubleheader today starting at 1 PM. The Saturday contest starts at 4 PM. The series concludes with an 11 AM Sunday matinee.

The Bearcats enter the contest hot on the heels of winning 3 out of 4 from the Houston Cougars down in Houston. Cincinnati’s record stands at 24-21 overall and 13-11 in the American, good for fourth place in the league.

ECU is currently ranked 10th in the country and holds a big lead in the league over second place Tulane University, who will be heading up to Bearcat country next weekend for the finale of the 2021 regular season.

In the previous matchups this season, ECU just flat out smoked Cincinnati. The Bearcats were swept in the four game series down in Greenville, North Carolina. ECU ace Gavin Williams fanned 13 Bearcats in one of the games, a complete game shutout win. The bright spots in the series were Cincinnati’s twin aces: Garrett Schoenle and Zach Segal, both of whom had strong starts against the boppers that constitute ECU’s lineup.
