Cincinnati Bearcats bulked their 2021 regular season mark to 21-20 overall and 10-10 in the American this weekend.

Cincinnati earned wins on Saturday and Sunday against the USF Bulls this weekend, splitting a four game set with the perennial baseball powers.

On Friday afternoon, the Bearcats fell 4-2 despite a strong pitching performance by senior southpaw Garrett Shoenele, who gave up 2 runs over 5 innings.

Saturday featured a double-header split with the Bulls. Grad student Third baseman Eric Santiago got two hits and scored twice in a 5-3 win in the opener. In the nightcap, USF hit the Bearcats with a hadouken—USF took that one by a 12-3 final.

Sunday was the real barnburner of the series. Cincinnati came from behind in the 9th, plating 4 runs in the top-half of the inning. Cincinnati hung on for a 6-4 win over USF in the series finale, earning the Bearcats a series split. Grad student Second baseman Jace Mercer drove in the game-winning run for Cincinnati in the 9th.

The Bearcats return to action this weekend as they head down to Houston for a tussle with the always fantastic Cougars. Check back with Down the Drive for full coverage of the contest.
