It seems like every year the Bearcats’ cadre of linebackers is the question mark on the defense.

It seems like every year they come up big.

2021 will be no different.

The Cincinnati Bearcats’ linebackers will be led by weakside linebacker Darrian Beavers, a senior and two-year starter who registered 74 stops in 2020. The grad student is a robust 6’3, 242 and a battle-tested tackler.

Grad student Joel Dublanko, who has started intermittently during his career, will be anchoring the middle. Dublanko is a steady tackler who will be in position to make piles of stops thanks to the powerful defensive line in front of him. Wilson Huber will also being garnering some time in the middle and is himself a battle-tested senior.

On the strong side, Cincinnati has a talented athlete in Ty Van Fossen. Now a junior, Van Fossen has made strong contributions on special teams throughout his career and looks to transition to the full time job as a starting linebacker. The St. Francise De Sales (Columbus) grad will play a profound role in whether or not this Bearcats’ linebacker unit is a strong one in 2021.
