A Brief History of Cincinnati-Indiana Football

Anthony Thompson

The Cincinnati Bearcats and Indiana Hoosiers have not met recently on the football field.

Despite sitting just 125 miles apart, the two schools have not met since the Clinton Administration.

Indiana holds a 9-3-2 overall lead in the rivalry. The Hoosiers have won 5 consecutive meetings, all in convincing fashion.

The most recent contest was a 42-6 thrashing in the year 2000.

Former Bearcats headman Rick Minter went 0-3 overall against Indiana. His first ever defeat as Bearcats’ head coach came in his 1994 debut, a 28-3 defeat in Bloomington.

The 1994 game is available on YouTube and is the one I’ve added to this article. This was an interesting contest pitting a pair of promising clubs coming off 8 win seasons.

It didn’t turn out quite so great in ‘94 for either club. Cincinnati ended up 2-8-1 while Indiana fell to 6-5.

Thanks as always for Down the Drive and enjoy the game below:
