Things on the recruiting front weren't supposed to heat up until this weekend which would be one of the last four weekends for prospects to visit a university. Darius Patton didn't get the memo and committed to UC over an offer from West Virginia. Patton will be on campus this weekend for his official visit, but that is just a formality at this point, he is a Bearcat. Patton is evaluated as a receiver but I think his best position at the next level might actually be as a corner back. With so many similar guys already in the fold as receivers you have to think some of them are moving to defense and I think that Patton will be one of them. He has the build, acceleration and most importantly the hips to play the position, and play it well. Patton reported offers from WVU, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Kansas.
Update 12:03 The story I linked to on the scout network has been taken down and the Patton profile which said that he was a UC verbal has been amended and now lists UC and Michigan as the two schools he has high interest in.
