J.K. Schaffer and Patrick O'Donnell Receive Big East Awards


Schaffer was named the defensive player of the week for his efforts in the North Carolina State game last Thursday. Schaffer, a long time stand out for the Bearcats turned in his best performance of the young season against the Wolfpack. J.K. finnished the game with 9 tackles, .5 tackles for loss and an interception which he returned for 16 yards.

O'Donnell received the special teams player of the week for his efforts last Thursday. O'Donnell punted three times against the Wolfpack for 179 yards, an average of 59.7, with two punts downed inside the 20. Pat's first punt, a 76 yarder was downed inside the N.C. State 5 yardline, was a major turning point in the game. The wolfpack turned the ball over on the ensuing drive which led to UC's first TD of the game.

Isaiah Pead was named to the Big East honor roll for the second time this season on the heels of his 191 yard 2 TD performance against N.C. State. This is the first time this year that a Bearcat has received player of the week honors.
