Tight End | 2007-2010

He might have come in as Gino's brother but Ben Guidugli made a name for himself at his own position. Lightly recruited out of Highlands Guidugli came to UC to play tight end, though given his size at the time (6'1" 200) and the Dantonio staff recruiting him it seemed a move to Fullback was probably in his future. Instead Dantonio goes to Michigan State, Brian Kelly comes in and Ben G becomes a major weapon for an offense stressing the vertical passing game.

Guidugli is smaller than a traditional tight end. Not just in terms of height but in weight as well. He never eclipsed 240 pounds at UC. He wasn't particularly effective as an inline player, but splitting him out created match up nightmares for opposing teams. Too big for safeties, too fast for linebackers he seemed to shred defenses at will. As far as I can tell only Brent Celek has more receiving yards from the tight end position at UC.
