Linebacker | Letters 1983-86

The Dave Currey era. Its enough to make one facepalm. Like really, really facepalm. But in any dark situation there are some good points. Reggie Taylor and Danny McCoin were the bright spots on the offense. Alex Gordon was for the defense. A consistent factor for bad teams against brutal schedules.

Gordon's name is all over the Bearcats record books. He is in the top 10 for career tackles (352, 5th) assisted tackles (192, 3rd) and tackles for loss (38, 7th). His finest season as an individual was in 1986 as a Senior, it was also the closest UC got to a winning season in his four year career. He was named an honorable mention All American by the Associated Press and The Sporting News. Gordon went onto a 7 year career in the NFL with the Jets, Raiders and Bengals.
