Running Back | Lettered 1979-81

From 1978 through 1986 the Cincinnati Bearcats had arguably the best run of backs in program history. Allen Harvin, James Bettis, and Reggie Taylor combined to produce 6 1,000 yard rushers in 8 seasons in the rest of the Bearcats years there have been just 8 1,000 yard seasons. Bettis and Harvin shared the backfield and are the best duo in school history, in this bloggers estimation at least.

The era had a lot to do with it. It was the early 80's when everyone ran the ball and everyone seemed to have four guys on their team doing their best Earl Campbell impression. Bettis and Harvin fit the bill in both cases big bruising backs who left their marks.
