Eric Lefeld Makes The Outland Watchlist; Again

The Outland Trophy is the biggest award that an offensive lineman can win in the college game. Lefeld made the watchlist last year as a junior, so getting on it again isn't a huge surprise.

After all Lefeld is very good at playing offensive tackle. He has been starting since his redshirt freshman year. He has started 32 of his last 33 games and has been named first team all conference twice all ready, including a unanimous selection from the AAC coaches a year ago. Barring something dramatically and drastically unexpected befalling him in this his senior season LeFeld will be named first team all conference again in 2014.

By most measures Eric Lefeld is probably already the best offensive lineman in the history of Cincinnati football. He has been so good, for so long and has accumulated so many honors that the sheer weight of them drowns out whatever argument you want to make for someone else, be it Jason Fabini, Trevor Canfield or someone way back in the mists of time like Jay Bachman. What seems really obvious now is that the Bearcats struck gold with Lefeld, and this is our last year to enjoy seeing 71 line up on the left side blocking out the sun.
