Bearcat Commit Quintin Hampton Being Targeted By UCF

The Georgia native was offered by the Knights just over a week after committing to the Bearcats. Recruiting man.

Hampton was on UCF's campus for a camp this week, and the Knights have to be considered a big threat for a couple of different reasons. One of his former high school teammates, Jamiyus Pittman*, plays for the Knights. Orlando is a lot closer to his home in southern Georgia than Cincinnati is, about 400 miles shorter in fact.

*Pittman actually flipped from Ole Miss to UCF late in the process last year. In a vacuum that is meaningless, but I still found that to be an interesting fact.

That being said there are plenty of selling points for the Bearcats. While Hampton has lived in Colquitt County for most of his life he has lots of family in the Cincinnati and Dayton area. The Bearcats also offer more opportunities for Hampton to pursue an engineering. UCF is a fine school, but UC has world class engineering programs.

I am not surprised that Hampton is looking, he said that he would consider new offers as they came in. But I am a little surprised that UCF is tempting him. The Knights are on a roll and have a lot of momentum with their program, but the homer in me fails to see the appeal.

Regardless, this is shaping up to be a battle.
