The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team fell to the University of South Florida (USF) Bulls this evening 69-46 in their AAC home opener at St. Ursula Academy.

UC fell to 9-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the loss. USF, who is ranked #22 in the country, improved to 2-0 in the AAC and 12-3 overall with the win.

The Bulls led the entire way, holding a 29-18 advantage at the half which expanded to a blowout during the fourth quarter.

Cincinnati had great difficulty finding opening looks against USF’s long and agile lineup. The Bearcats shot .279 from the floor and just .118 from outside the arc.

Sophomore forward Angel Rizor led the way for Cincinnati with 13 points while freshman forward Iimar’i Thomas kicked in 12 points.

Maria Jespersen, one of the AAC’s top front court players, led the Bulls with 25 points.

Cincinnati returns to action on Sunday. They head to the University of Tulsa for a 3 PM match-up with the Golden Hurricane. The game will be televised on GoBearcats.com.
