The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team dropped its second straight AAC game, losing 64-51 on the road to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
Cincinnati fell behind early, trailing 20-13 after the first quarter. The Bearcats kept Tulsa from extending their advantage during highly competitive second and third quarters. The Bearcats, who posted 30 points in the paint and held the Golden Hurricane to just 36 percent shooting, scrapped against a deep and rugged Tulsa team that featured 11 different players on Saturday.
UC entered the fourth quarter down 40-35 but faded in the final 10 minutes. Tulsa extended its advantage in the fourth, enabling them to pull away in a contest was decided well in advance of the final buzzer.
Senior guard Ana Owens and sophomore forward Angel Rizor led the Bearcats with 10 points each.
Senior guard Alexis Gaulden led Tulsa with 24 points, 9 of which came from her trio of three-pointers.
Cincinnati fell to 1-2 in the AAC with the loss and 9-8 overall while Tulsa improved to 8-8 on the season and 2-1 in the AAC.
Cincinnati returns to action on Wednesday evening. They head to Texas for a matchup with the Houston Cougars. The game will start at 8 PM Eastern and be televised online at GoBearcats.com.
