The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team fell short in its comeback effort this afternoon in Columbus.

UC dropped a 69-56 decision to a powerhouse Ohio State Buckeyes team. Cincinnati’s record fell to 5-4 while Ohio State improved to 3-2.

Ohio State jumped to a commanding 26-15 lead after one quarter before expanding their advantage to 17 points at the half, 41-24.

Led by junior guard Sam Rodgers, who paced UC with 14 points, the Bearcats mounted a second half comeback which cut the Buckeyes lead to just three (59-56) with less than six minutes remaining.

Unfortunately, the Buckeyes excelled at the line in the latter stretches of the game, scoring the final 10 points of the contest.

Cincinnati returns to action on Wednesday night, journeying across the state for another road test. This time, UC will be facing off with the Miami Redhawks at 7 PM. Head back to Down the Drive for full coverage of the game.
