The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team overcame a fourth quarter home deficit to beat Virginia Commonwealth, 66-54, at Fifth Third Arena on Friday night.

The victory improved UC’s overall record to 6-5, helping the Bearcats snap a three-game losing streak as they prepare for Sunday’s matchup with crosstown rivals Xavier.

Sophomore forward IImar’i Thomas, who led the Bearcats with 20 points, sparked Cincinnati’s comeback. Thomas and Sam Rodgers (14 points) helped UC blow past VCU, who held a 46-43 lead after three quarters, turning the fourth quarter into a 23-8 Bearcats run.
