Women’s Basketball Loses Heartbreaker to UCF, 56-55

Bearcats lead with less than a minute left against emerging national power

The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team led the UCF Knights for more than 30 minutes this afternoon. Cincinnati led by five heading into the final quarter. The Bearcats led with less than a minute remaining, 55-52.

But the now 14-2 UCF Knights found a way to win against the Bearcats. Junior guard Kay Kay Wright drove to the basket for go-ahead layup with less than 10 seconds remaining, sealing a 56-55 victory for the Knights. Wright, one of the top players in the AAC, led all scorers with 25 points.

Junior forward Angel Rizor topped the box score for the Bearcats, posting 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Senior guard Nikira Goings also reached double figures for Cincinnati, adding 11 points.

Cincinnati returns to action on Wednesday evening, heading home for a 7 PM tilt with the Temple Owls.
