Women’s Basketball Outlasts Houston, 68-57

Second Half comeback pushes Cincinnati’s record to 12-7

The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team improved its mark to 12-7 last evening, posting a 68-57 home victory over the Houston Cougars.

Cincinnati fell behind early, struggling to less than .300 shooting in the first half. The Cougars led after one quarter, 15-14, and at the half, 36-31.

The Bearcats surged in the second half, spurred on the strong interior play by sophomore forward Ilmar’i Thomas (16 points, 7 rebounds) and junior forward Angel Rizor (8 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists). Junior guard Antoinette Miller paced the Bearcats from the perimeter with a career-high of 21 points.

The victory pushed UC to 4-2 in the AAC, pushing the team to the upper echelons of the conference. Cincinnati returns to action at home at Fifth Third Arena on Saturday at 2 PM. The Bearcats play host to the Memphis Tigers. Check back with Down the Drive for full coverage of the contest.
