Bearcats on a roll, earn 4th straight win

The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team is on a roll!

UC earned its fourth consecutive win yesterday afternoon, pummeling an overmatched Memphis Tigers team 80-56.

The victory improves Cincinnati’s overall mark to 13-7 and an impressive 5-2 in the AAC. UC is firmly entrenched in 3rd place in the American after yesterday’s triumph.

Cincinnati shot the lights out of the building all afternoon, hitting at nearly .500 from the field. Six different UC players reached double figures. The Bearcats proved the quicker, more athletic club, forcing the Tigers into 19 turnovers. The Bearcats took a commanding 37-24 lead into the half.

Michelle Clark-Heard’s club showed the killer instict in the third period, expanding the lead to 16 by quarter’s end.

Once again, sophomore forward Ilmar’i Thomas topped the Bearcats’ box score, contributing 19 points on an otherworldly 9 for 9 shooting performance. Junior guard Sam Rodgers (14 points) and sophomore forward Andeija Puckett (12 points) were also key contributors.

Cincinnati returns to action on Wednesday evening at 7 PM, heading down to Tampa for a clash with national power South Florida. The USF Bulls are currently undefeated in the league, tied with Connecticut in first place.
