Luke Fickell Not Overlooking Austin Peay

Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Luke Fickell is not overlooking the 0-2 Austin Peay Governors.

Heading into Saturday’s matchup at Nippert Stadium, Fickell spoke about Cincinnati’s first opponent during his weekly press conference.

“They were fast and energetic,” Fickell said of Austin Peay’s tight week 1 loss to Central Arkansas. “They’ve got athletes and they’ve got playmakers,” he said of the Austin Peay club, which fell behind early in week 2 against Pitt and just never recovered.

Fickell also notes that this is Austin Peay’s final scheduled game for the 2020 season, so there is no reason to expect anything but maximum effort from this bunch. Saturday’s trip to Cincinnati is in essence the Governors’ bowl game.
