The great John Denver made a number of stops on the University of Cincinnati campus early in his career.
Both as a solo artist and as a member of the latter day Chad Mitchell Trio.
From the video vault this weekend, I bring you John Denver’s live performance at UC’s Wise Owl Coffeehouse in May 1969.
This recording demonstrates that Denver was a master of stage banter even early in his career. Alternately funny and charming, Denver won this crowd over almost immediately. I particularly recommend his version of “You Done Stompt on My Heart” at about 15:00.
Thanks as always for your support for Down the Drive and the Cincinnati Bearcats.
