Rising senior Evan Shawver is tearing it up in the early days of the 2021 Cape Cod League.

The crafty southpaw who posted a 2.72 ERA this spring for the Cincinnati Bearcats is taking care of business in similar fashion this summer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Playing in the nation’s top collegiate summer baseball league, Shawver was named the Cape Cod League’s pitcher of the week last week. In his debut for the Harwich Mariners, Shawver fanned 10 in six scoreless innings of work.

Shawver anchors a strong returning Bearcats rotation for next season. Look for the Bearcats to once again compete with the likes of Tulane and East Carolina for the American Athletic Conference baseball crown.

Next week, we will begin rolling out our annual football previews.

It sure is getting to that time of year and I am getting awfully excited.
