Pitt Week

Pitt, Cincinnati battle for position in Big East championship race // Post-Gazette

That makes the contest something of an elimination game for the Panthers (4-4, 2-1 Big East), because if they lose they will fall two games behind the Bearcats (6-1, 2-0) with only three games to play

Surprising University of Cincinnati focused on winning Big East //

Three of UC's last five games are on the road - beginning Saturday at Pittsburgh (4-4 overall, 2-1 Big East.) UC also has a crucial home game at Paul Brown Stadium against No. 24 West Virginia.

Stat that makes Derek Wolfe drool: Pittsburgh is the worst team in the FBS in sacks allowed. They have given up 36 -- that includes 12 in three conference games. UC has given up 10 sacks all season. Even further, you can take this to the bank -- if you can't protect the quarterback, this defense will make it a long day. If you can, the Bearcats can be made to look like the 2010 unit.

UC's first exhibition Tuesday //

Mbdoj, a native of Dakar, Senegal, who transferred to UC after two years at Grayson County (Texas) College, has been dealing with a sprained ankle since the first day of practice and will be held out of Tuesday's 7 p.m. exhibition game against McGill University at Fifth Third Arena.

An In-Depth Look at the Status of Cincinnati Bearcats Recruiting // Bearcats Nation

Overall Cincinnati is molding a really nice class that should rank even higher than the one Butch Jones reeled in last year that at the time was the best group of freshman talent in UC history. There are still a few slots to fill like on the interior of the offensive line and bits and pieces of the defense. Also players like Alton ‘Pig’ Howard who, while a wide receiver gaining interest from a team full of them, is a gamechanger and still uncommited. But I’m confident Jones and his staff will find the right players to take those last few schollarships. After all, these are the same coaches that brought in guys like Nick Temple and Alex Chisum who have both contributed quite a bit as true freshman. Coach Jones clearly has an eye for talent and I’m excited to see what recruits he convinces to call themselves ‘Bearcats’ in the months leading up to signing day.

Big East Breakup

West Virginia files lawsuit to leave Big East for Big 12 next season // USA Today

"This lack of leadership, breach of fiduciary duties by the Big East and its Commissioner, and voting disparity between football and non-football schools resulted in the Big East football conference no longer being a viable and competitive football conference."

I stood up and cheered reading this paragraph. Then I remembered that John Marinatto is still the commissioner of the conference UC is stuck in.
