Cincinnati Goes Wire to Wire in 62-57 Victory | Bearcats Blog

A couple of guys had big games to carry the Cats. Dion Dixon, best friend, was only 5-14 from the field, but he was 8-10 from the foul line to get to 20 points. He had 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. Great all around game. JaQuon Parker stepped up to score 12 with 7 rebounds.

Cincinnati 62 Seton Hall 57: That Went As Planned

In a critical six-game stretch to finish off the Big East regular season, the Bearcats are now 2 – 0. UC has a 9 – 5 conference record and is in prime position to get a high seed in the tourny at MSG in early March and most importantly the Big Dance. Cincinnati is sitting pretty right now and if they continue to play with this kind of intensity will have their name called on Selection Sunday. But it’s too early to break out the champaign. The archrival Louisville Cardinals invade 5/3rd next Thursday and a win against them would all but secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Putting on the Bracketologist Hat and Evaluating Cincinnati’s NCAA Tournament Resume
On the Non Conference Schedule

It was full of cupcakes and teams that are absolutely killing Cincinnati’s strength of schedule. It was actually better compared to the 2010-11 season with teams like Marshall, Oklahoma, and Georgia filling the lineup. Marshall was expected to finish near the top of C-USA this season and Oklahoma, a 9 – 2 squad at the time, looked to be in-store for a good year. Those three teams are now a combined 41 – 37 and probably not going to win their respective conference’s title.

Schaffer Looks To Prove Doubters Wrong...Again - Cincinnati Bearcats

"I've always used that stuff for motivation," Schaffer told me. "When I was in high school, people told me that I wouldn't play in Division I. Now, it's not getting invited to the combine or people saying, 'He's too small, he's too whatever.' I just take all of that stuff and think about it on that last run of conditioning drills when I'm struggling and don't want to do it anymore. It's another reason to go out and prove people wrong. I also look at it as giving me an extra week to train and get ready for Pro Day."
