Wide Receiver / Kick Returner | Letters 1994-96

Tate was a big part of the squad at the start of the Rick Minter era. He starred as a wide receiver leading the Bearcats in receiving for both the 1995 season where he caught 46 passes for 895 yards and 5 TD's. His numbers trailed off in 1996 with just 23 catches for 247 yards and 2 TD's but still led the team.

Tate also had a big impact in the return game. He still owns the single season record for Kickoff return averages with his 34 yard average in 1995. He is also the only Bearcat who is in the top 4 for both kick return yards and punt return yards. Tate went onto a long career in the NFL with the Vikings, Ravens and Cardinals as a defensive back.
