Defensive Back | Lettered 2001-04

Carrying on the tradition of run stuffing defensive backs crafted by Sam Garnes and DeJuan Gossett was Colerain boy Doug Monaghan. Outside of Cincinnati Monaghan might best be remembered as the flashpoint of the the Hawaii fight back in 2002. And that is a legacy that he has had to endure with. But he was also a gifted defender who erupted onto the scene in 2001 as a true freshman with a 101 tackle season that earned him Freshman All America honors from the Sporting News among others.

Monaghan's progression continued from there and he wound up being a very good player on some memorable defenses including the 2004 group which featured Trent Cole, Andre Frazier, Tyjuan Haggler and Daven Holley among others.
