Head Coach | 1973-76

Of course Tony Mason, A.K.A. Mafia Mason, makes the list. How could he not? He gave the Bearcat fans their last real glimpse of the fun side of college Football before the 80's happened, and the 80's was the decade that nearly killed the sport in Clifton.

Mason was a characther but he put good teams on the field and he stocked the roster with local talent to an extent that hadn't really happened since Ray Nolting started trolling for G.I.'s in the late 40's. Mason's methods were unorthodox and definitely against the NCAA's rules. But he was, and is, one of the most fun and interesting characters in UC history, not just Football history. And I say that not minding the sanctions he left the program with because I wasn't alive then. So Obviously opinions vary.
