The Keg of Nails will not be for a conference crown, or a trip to the BCS. Both goals are out of reach for Cincinnati, and out of the control of Louisville. But it is for a Keg of Nails and eternal bragging rights in a 53 game series that doesn't seem to have a future after this season.

Putting Brendon Kay's Season In Historical Context

Brendon Kay was not the starter to open this season. Munchie Legaux got the nod, but when Munchie went down against Illinois Kay stepped into the fray, and he is on the verge of delivering one of the all time great seasons for a Bearcat QB. The argument is already there that if Kay has merely average games against Louisville and in the bowl he will have one of the two or three best single seasons in UC history.

Bearcats Are Back In The Coaches, Outside Of BCS

The Cincinnati Bearcats are back in the national polls, or more accurately they are back in one national poll, the Coaches, and just outside the Harris Poll. Those two polls comprise two thirds of the BCS system. With the Bearcats computer rankings garunteed to be terrible, it really comes down to the human polls for the Bearcats.
