As you know, Wednesday is National Signing Day across the country. Actually, it is NATIONAL SIGNING DAY!!!!!! Let's be honest, that's how big it is in football recruiting. It's a national phenomenon and a large faction of males in this country spend too much time living and dying on the whims of 17-, 18-, 19-year-old kids. But, it's not going anywhere and it's not going to change so there's no sense in wasting too much time wondering how it is going to change. Recruiting is dirty, but if you want to win games you have to "play ball" so to speak.
Admittedly, I'm no longer a huge follower of football recruiting. I did it for a few years over at BCL and while it was fun while I did it, the process certainly wore on me. These days, I pay attention to it but nowhere near as closely as I would need to in order to write an educated post to the point where you would say "I'm glad I read that; he knows what he's doing".
Therefore, it is awesome that Matt Opper has agreed to come back for NSD tomorrow and break it all down for us. Hopefully it will be a busy day for him and the new UC staff who has been traveling the country searching for the players that will make up the 2013 recruiting class.
So please join us all day tomorrow for Christmas in February! We'll see if new Head Coach Tommy Tuberville and his staff are able to fill out a full class despite the late start and negative national coverage.
