Welcome to this week's installment of "Weekly Whispers," our weekly series in which we keep Bearcat Nation updated on the latest recruiting news for the Cincinnati Bearcats. Lets see what happened this week on the recruiting trail.

Cats offer Wilcox

The Bearcats were the latest program to send an offer to '17 ATH Matthew Wilcox, an in-state prospect who currently attends Wayne (OH). The offer was extended to the Ohioan this past Saturday prior to Cincinnati's game against UCONN.

For now, UC joins Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, and Toledo as the other programs to give a scholarship offer to the 5'10, 185-pounder. Other universities that have shown interest in the Dayton native include Indiana and the Wildcats of Kentucky. Surely Wilcox will be able to earn himself some more offers with about 16 months to go until he can sign on the dotted line of his letter of intent.

Lemons secures UC offer

Clearwater (FL) running back Adarius Lemons, a 2017 prospect, was also a recipient of a Bearcat offer since last Wednesday. The offer from UC is reportedly the 12th scholarship he has been awarded throughout the process.

It will be a tough pull for Cincinnati to make any noise in this recruitment. Lemons looks to be on his way to being one of the more highly courted Floridians in next year's cycle. The 6'1, 185-pounder has already gotten offers from Florida, Louisville, Michigan, and more. Despite naming the Wolverines his leader at the conclusion of September, Lemons is currently predicted to stay in-state and suit up for the Gators.

2016 RB visits

Despite having commitments from Jeremy Larkin, a Cincinnati native, and Gerrid Doaks from Lawrence Central (IN), the Bearcats hosted '16 RB Austin Petrie on a visit last weekend. Petrie, a 5'10, 210-pounder is from Michigan and is playing his high school ball at Stevenson (OH).

Initially, I would suspect that Petrie may be being looked at as a potential preferred walk-on in the 2016 class. As far as we can tell, the great lakes state prospect has only be linked to Valparaiso during the recruiting process. Down The Drive will attempt to get more information on the situation. No matter what the case may be, Petrie was invited to the UC campus by offensive coordinator Eddie Gran, so at the very least, the Bearcat coach is intrigued with the Michigan prospect.

Summers changes plans

In last week's edition of "Weekly Whispers" we mentioned '16 WR Tyrin Summers of Clewiston (FL) and his planned official visit to Clifton on October 31st when the Bearcats take on UCF. The morning that the piece was published, the Floridian let me know that he postponed his visit to Cincinnati.

"I'm going sometime in December now," the 5'9, 160-pounder stated to me. While UC may not have the opportunity to showcase their gameday atmosphere to the WR whom they offered, they will still have the chance to impress Summers as they try to push ahead of other programs in their pursuit of his commitment.
