Here we have our Week 7 USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 Poll. Michigan State sits atop both polls with Kansas ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll and Oklahoma taking the No. 2 spot in the Coaches Poll.
Cincinnati had a nice week last week, winning games against Norfolk State and VCU. The 69-63 win over VCU is certainly the highlight of the week as the Bearcats took down the Rams on the road. As a result, Cincinnati rose one spot in the AP Poll from No. 23 to No. 22. In a bit of a head-scratcher, the Bearcats dropped in the Coaches Poll one spot to No. 21.
That ranking is sure to improve if the Bearcats can pull off a home win against the 9-1 Iowa State Cyclones Tuesday. Iowa State ranks No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the Coaches Poll. The Cyclones were ranked in the top-five of both polls just a week ago before suffering their first loss of their season to Northern Iowa on Saturday.
Keeping tabs on Cincinnati's past and future opponents, Xavier is climbing fast, ranked No. 6 in both polls. Butler is No. 9 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll. George Washington is now ranked No. 20 in both polls, just ahead of the Bearcats, and SMU is No. 18 in the AP Poll. Connecticut is receiving votes outside the Top 25 in each set of rankings.
