The Bearcats dropped their first game of the American Athletic Conference tournament, 8-4, Tuesday night. Leading the way for the Bearcats at plate was junior outfielder Ian Happ who went 2 for 4 with fellow outfielder R.J. Thompson adding two more hits. Second baseman Kyle Mottice, who hit the Bearcats' lone homerun, also added a RBI. Thompson and Chris Klenk each hit in a RBI as well.
The Bearcats lead at one point in the game until Houston's Ashford Fulmer tripled home two runs as Houston exploded for three runs in the 6th inning.
Houston would go on to hold down the Bearcats offense the rest of the game. The winning pitcher for Houston was Aaron Fletcher (2-0) and the losing pitcher for the Bearcats was Tanner Schimmoeller (1-3).
The Bearcats will look to bounce back tonight as they face the 5th seeded Memphis Tigers. First pitch will be at roughly 7 p.m.
