Bearcats Make Final Six for 3-Star SG Prospect

Cincinnati joins Iowa State, Texas, SMU, UConn and Florida as a final contender for Darius McNeill.

Darius McNeill, a 6’2”, 165-pound shooting guard from Houston, Texas whittled the list of schools he is considering down to six and Cincinnati made that cut.

McNeill, who would be a 2017 class addition, is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports. He is ranked as the No. 17 recruit in the state of Texas, the No. 41 shooting guard in the class of 2017 and the No. 196 recruit nationally. He had a total of 11 offers on the board but is now only considering SMU and Texas (both in-state schools for him) along with Florida, UConn, Iowa State and, last but not least, UC.

In addition, McNeill will begin making official visits in September, with 247Sports reporting that he will travel to Iowa State Sept. 2-4 and head to UC for the Sept. 15-17 weekend. Right now, 247Sports is predicting that McNeill will end up in Ames playing for the Cyclones.

McNeill received an offer from the Bearcats in late June and is yet another scoring guard that UC has targeted. The program added one already in Trevor Moore, who committed earlier this summer.
