It has been simply incredible to watch Luke Fickell say he was going to commit to recruiting close to home and watch him succeed. He was at it again over the weekend as 2018 athlete Ja’Von Hicks announced his commitment to the University of Cincinnati.

Hicks, who plays for Colerain right in Cincinnati, made unofficial visits to UC earlier this month before making his announcement on Sunday. A 6’2”, 185-pound prospect, Hicks will likely play wide receiver, which is his primary position in high school. Currently un-ranked for the 2018 class, Hicks had offers from Kent State and Bowling Green as well.
He joins a 2018 recruiting class for the Bearcats which is made up entirely of Ohio recruits, including three from Cincinnati proper. Four-start tight end Josh Whyle highlights the hyper-local recruits, while four-star defensive end Malik Vann is the current jewel of the class overall. Three star recruits Blake Bacevich (defensive end), Ty Van Fossen (linebacker) and Colin Woodside (offensive tackle) make up the rest of the class.
