Video Vault: Wichita Lineman

And I need you more than want you, Shockers. And I want you for all time.

Cincinnati boys have no need to fear the Shockers.

Welcome Wichita State to the AAC.

Thankfully, Wichita has displaced Cincinnati as the most difficult to spell place name in the American.

Sadly, the Beach Boys’ “Susie Cincinnati” is no longer the best song written about an AAC city.

“Susie Cincinnati” has been bested by Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman.” The Shockers are represented by one of the loveliest songs ever written. Penned by the legendary Jimmy Webb, “Wichita Lineman” was a genuine pop-country crossover hit in 1968. Unlike many crossover singles, it works equally well in both idioms.

For your listening pleasure this evening, I offer up Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman.”
