They were a fast machine, they kept the stat sheet clean, they’re the best damn team in the AAC.
The Cincinnati Bearcats made a statement last night which will certainly land them in the conversation for the College Football Playoff. After a 21-day layoff, they took one of the country’s best teams to the woodshed.
The Bearcats’ 42-13 victory on the road over #16 SMU certainly puts them in the driver’s seat in the AAC and will only enhance their resume for pollsters across the country.
In many ways, the most exciting part of last evening’s game was seeing Bearcats starting QB Desmond Ridder silence the peanut gallery with a tremendous performance, both by land and by air.
Ridder ran for 179 yards and three touchdowns. When called on to throw the ball, he was exceedingly efficient, going 13 for 21 for 126 yards and make use of a cluster of different targets. And he never turned the ball over. Cincinnati used its clear supremacy in the trenches to take control of this game. The Bearcats pounded it on the ground with Gerrid Doaks and never let the Mustangs’ top notch offense get in gear.
Let’s all re-live the highlights below and enjoy this win today!
