Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball star Ilmar’I Thomas has been getting a ton of national recognition in the lead-up to the 2020-2021 season.

Thus far, Thomas has been named the AAC co-preseason Player of the Year, to the watchlist of the Becky Hammond Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, and a WBCA Preseason All-American.

It will be no suprise if Thomas, one of the most esteemed players in Bearcats’ program history, ends up on the watchlist for the James Naismith Award, for the nation’s best women’s college basketball player.

Last season, the now senior forward first team All-AAC honors in a season where she averaged 18.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Over the course of her outstanding career, the Oakland, CA native has become a veritable double-double machine.

In the coming weeks, we will be ramping up our coverage of Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball, as they look for their first AAC championship in the 2020-2021 season.
