The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team had a decidedly tough outing this weekend in Orlando.
The UCF Knights pummeled the Bearcats by a margin of 57-41.
Cincinnati fell behind early, unable to hit much of anything from the floor. After building up a 34-20 edge at the half, UCF cruised to victory.
UCF hardly lit up the scoring sheet, shooting well under .400 but they certainly outpaced the Bearcats’ shooting.
The Bearcats shot a dreadful .286 from the field yesterday and went through several long stretches without a field goal. IImar’i Thomas logged 13 points and 8 rebounds but was stymied in her efforts by UCF’s strong defensive emphasis on shutting down the Bearcats’ top star.
Junior guard Destiny Haymer added 10 for the Bearcats in the loss.
Cincinnati returns to action on Wednesday night when they play host to the Memphis Tigers. Check back with Down the Drive for full coverage of the contest.
