Cincinnati 125 for 125 | # 43 Sam Garnes

Defensive Back | Letters 1993-1996

When you think about New York City high school football is not something that is likely to come to mind. Its a Basketball city and always will be. But there are always some surprises and Sam Garnes is one of them. Garnes grew up in the Bronx and attended DeWitt Clinton High School before coming to Cincinnati as a Wide Receiver.

His time on offense did not last and he became a bone crunching safety under Rick Minter. Garnes was a three time all conference selection and he is one of two* players in Bearcats history to rank in the top 10 in Interceptions and tackles. Garnes went onto a 7 year NFL career with his hometown Giants and Jets and is currently an assistant with the Denver Broncos.

* The other is Doug Monahan
