Cincinnati Bearcats Home Opener Against Purdue Is Sold Out

As predicted the Tuberville era is going to start with a bang in terms of attendance. The official attendance record of 35,106 is all but certain to fall on Saturday.

This is the general release from UC.

Tickets for the University of Cincinnati football team's 2013 season opener against Purdue at Nippert Stadium are sold out to the general public, Director of Athletics Whit Babcock announced Monday.

and there is this.

A limited number of student overflow tickets priced at $15 apiece will be made available beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 8 a.m. These tickets are only available to UC students and may only be ordered online at beginning at 8am while supplies last.  No tickets will be sold or distributed at the athletic ticket office.

By overflow they surely mean standing room only. Whit is on record as saying that he wants this game to break the official attendance record. Selling a couple hundred standing room only tickets is an easy way to do that. Mind you that the official record is not the record. I was at the Marshall game in 2007 and that was by far the most people I have seen at Nippert. It was madness in the student section that night. Drunk, hot, steamy madness; which is par for the course now.
