Until 2008 the 1964 Bearcats were the last UC team to win a conference crown when they won the Missouri Valley Conference thanks in large part to a win over nationally ranked Tulsa. That team featured Brig Owens and posted the best season between the Sid Gillman and Tony Mason eras by going 8-2.
