Bearcats Freshman Profile: Ryan Stout

The city of Toledo has never been a particularly fertile recruiting ground for the Bearcats. Starting with the 2002 class the Bearcats signed just two natives of the Glass City, both in the class of 2005. Cincinnati wound up nicking two in the class of 2014, both of them from Sylvania Southview. Offensive lineman Ryan Stout is the first one to be touched on in this space.

Stout played most of his career and made his name in recruiting circles as a strongside defensive end. Most of what you can find on Stout video wise is all on the defensive side of the ball. However he won't be playing defense for the Bearcats because the coaching staff projects him as an offensive linemen, at least to start out.

Its not hard to see why, Stout has the frame to add another 40 to 50 pounds and the athleticism to play as a center or offensive tackle. For a big defensive end Stout can really turn and run on a dime which suggests that he has the flexibility required to be a good offensive linemen at this level. Like the majority of the 2014 class Stout is bound for a redshirt, and a whole lot of weight room time this year.
