The Cincinnati recruiting class will now stand at 20 as they lost a member earlier today. Per Luke Matheson of Rivals.com, '15 DE Griffin Riggs has flipped his commitment to Arkansas State after previously accepting the Bearcats offer on the 23rd of June.
Riggs was primarily recruited to UC by offensive coordinator Eddie Gran. He initially pledged to the Bearcats over offers from Arkansas State, Appalachian State, South Alabama and Southern Miss.
The 6'3, 222-pounder from Auburn High School (AL) is a three-star prospect in the 2015 recruiting class. Riggs comes in ranked as the 45th overall player in the state of Alabama, the 70th overall strong-side defensive end and the 1,450th overall player in this years class.
The addition of Griffin Riggs now puts Arkansas State at 22 commitments in the class. Head Coach Blake Anderson and the Red Wolves will be getting a hybrid DE/OLB with 4.6 speed. The two big pieces on Anderson's coaching staff that helped land him were cornerbacks coach Trooper Taylor and defensive line coach Brian Early.
With the loss of Riggs, the Bearcats will now have three defensive end prospects in the recruiting class. Those three would be in-state '15 DE Marquise Copeland, '15 DE Garret Jansen of Pella High School (IA) and '15 DE Caleb Ashworth from Virginia.
