- Series history: This is the 27th meeting between these two programs, Cincinnati leads the all-time series 17-9, but the two teams play as even as you can get in Philadelphia (4-4) while the Bearcats have dominated this matchup at home (7-2). However, last season Temple clawed its way to two victories over UC including a 67-64 slugfest in double-overtime.
If you though Christmas was over, Santa Claus just dropped one more gift down the chimney and onto your TV screen. American Athletic Conference play is FINALLY Here! The Bearcats (10-2) have had a fairly easy schedule of late excluding last week’s come-from-behind win against Marshall. This all comes to an end Wednesday night as the red and black travel to Philly to take on Temple (9-4).
The Owls are winners of two-straight, including nail-biting victories over the NJIT Highlanders and the Yale Bulldogs. Temple won those games by a combined 10 points.
The Bearcats are favored to win Wednesday night, but will be challenged right from tip-off. Temple is a solid offensive team (ranked 85th in adjusted offensive efficiency), however its defensive numbers are nothing to brag about (No. 102 in adjusted defense). The Owls and Bearcats both have four scorers averaging in double figures and both play at slower paces. That means it will be the play of the Bearcats defense that will dictate the direction of this game for Mick Cronin and company.
