Ponder is pretty quick for being 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, beating tackles and even guards off the ball. He is also explosive, constantly finishing tackles by running through the ball carrier. He has a good motor and understands his role in the pass rush. At his size, he can add on bulk in a college training program to fill.

Ponder is a developmental recruit. He has the frame to be a factor on the defensive line in the future, but he will likely begin his Cincinnati career as a redshirt, working to add muscle and improve his pad level off the snap.
