Sound the alarm, the Cincinnati Bearcats are scorching the recruiting trail right now, as they added yet another commitment to the football program. Cole Smith, a senior kicker/punter from Middletown, Ohio, announced his commitment to UC via his Twitter account.
In a week already filled to the brim with commitments, Smith may get lost in the shuffle due to his position and the fact that second-team All-AAC kicker Andrew Gantz has a stranglehold on the job, but its still a good add. If you were wondering, Gantz went 21-for-27 on field goals last season and hit a long of 51 yards.
If you'd like to see Smith in action, you are in luck. Here are highlights of his junior season.
Earlier this week, UC got commitments from three other recruits in tight end Wil Huber, offensive tackle Cody Lamb and defensive end Jamal Hines. Along with those two, Tommy Tuberville's staff now has added nine hard commits to the 2017 class. Lamb joins Huber and Hines as well as quarterback Desmond Ridder, running back Jaelen Greene, wide receiver Jordan Merrell, athlete Jalen Walker and offensive lineman Blake Yager.
