Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball Week 4: The Season Starts Now

Through the first three weeks of the season the Bearcats played precisely one team ranked in the top 100 of the RPI, that is North Carolina Central. The schedule toughens considerably this week with USC Upstate and a road trip to the land of Breaking Bad to play New Mexico.

Everyone is anticipating the game with the Lobo's, but the game with the Spartans is going to be a real battle. This team is looking like a likely tournament team, or as much as a team can look tournament bound before December rolls around.

They have the profile. They went on the road and beat Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, they went on the road and dropped close contests against Tennessee, Winthrop and Kent State. Their RPI is currently in the top 100. If the Bearcats win Tuesday this will undoubtedly go under the quality win header on the Bearcats resume.

Then there is New Mexico. Heading to the Pit for the first time in school history against a New Mexico team that is 5-1, with the only blemish coming against a UMass team that is doing their best to channel the glory days of Marcus Camby. None of us need reminding about last years heart breaker at home. It would be lovely to get them back in their gym.
