Quadri Moore To Be A Bearcat

Mick Cronin and the UC basketball program picked up a big commitment Tuesday from a 4-star center

Recruiting is fun, isn't it?  OK not so much.  Depending on who, or what, you believe in the fun packed game of college recruiting, you can be sent on wild goose chases all over the map.  If you're hip enough to be on twitter, you already know there are endless sources claiming every player has committed to just about every program in the country.

On Tuesday, again depending on who you follow or read, the topic of whether or not Quadri Moore had committed to the University of Cincinnati basketball program or not was very much in question.  It all started with some re-tweeted announcements that yes indeed Moore had committed to UC.  It was a stone cold lock.  The only problem was: no one told the UC coaching staff.

Here's a little rumor recap.  For a few months now, the commitment from the 6-foot-8 center from Linden, New Jersey was imminent.  Then it wasn't.  Then it was.  Then UC apparently slow played Moore because he apparently had a not-so-great summer on the AAU circuit, which as everyone knows can make or break a player.  Even after a somewhat disappointing summer, it was still UC as the favorite to land Moore, which they eventually did Tuesday...after the miscommunication was finally resolved.

So after basically announcing to the world that they were going hard after some big post players in this year's class, Mick and his staff have certainly started out well.  They already have a pledge from Hutchinson JC (Kan.) center Coreantae DeBerry and are still charging hard on 6-7 power forward Gary Clark and 6-8 "small forward" Donte Grantham.  Should they get commits from those two as well, it would be one hell of a class and would set UC up in the low post for quite a while.

Back to Moore.  It has been said that he thinks of himself as a "stretch 4" which means he likes to imitate Yancy Gates a little and shoot from the outside.  While he may have some range, if you look at his frame, NOTHING about his body suggests "stretch 4".  Well, in my mind it doesn't.  If you'd like to see for yourself, check out this clip showing off his already impressive build.  They should have no problem putting bulk on this kid.

If you're into rankings, 247Sports has him 80th in their composite, ESPN has him 83rd, Rivals has him at 103.  Read into that however you like.  Either way, UC has a nice commit for the 2014 recruiting class.

Another one coming today???
