Quarterback | Letters 1957-1959

Jack Lee was the first great Cincinnati QB of the modern era. While it remains exceptionally difficult to compare players of one era to the next when style of play has changed so much from Lee's time to today. By modern standards Lee's numbers aren't that great. He threw for over 1,000 yards just once, completed just 55 per cent of his passes for his career. But the passing game from 1959 bears no resemblance to the modern game. Lee would have thrived in the modern era with his big arm and touch on the deep ball. Lee might not have the numbers or the team accomplishments that differentiate some of the other quarterbacks on this list. But his role as a trendsetter has to be acknowledged in some way
